Kappa Sigma's Pawsta on Park
Bringing a child into the world changes a parent’s life forever. For the Chwalik family, the birth of their son Jeremy put their life in turmoil. Born in Ramstein, Germany, where both of his parents were stationed, Jeremy had issues too complicated for the hospital to care for. Just hours after his birth he and his mom were put on an Air Force cargo plane and flown to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, in Bethesda, MD, so he could be treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Told to pack "like she was never coming back," Jeremy's mom, Erika, stayed at the Fisher House while Jeremy was receiving treatment. This would be the first of several stays at a Fisher house as jeremy would later be diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia.
Fisher House cares for all members of a military family, from those wounded in battle, to those battling for their life at birth. Erika said "Fisher House allows you to have a normal life in an abnotmal circumstance."
Kappa Sigma at Florida State University is raising funds to support the Fisher House Foundation. Every family, espeicially military families, deserve to have a normal life. Support the cause by donating to this page.
