John's Fisher House Story
I wanted to run the Marine Corps Marathon in 2017. One of my best friends (Dan Whalen) was selected in the lottery, but I was not. The only way I could enter the race was by agreeing to raise funds for one of the race's charity partners. I had never fundraised on behalf of an organization before, so I wasn't sure how this was going to go. Long story short... I raised the funds, Dan and I ran the race, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life! I love running and racing in marathons. Running in a race organized and supported by the United States Marine Corps, and raising money to support military families via Team Fisher House made this experience stand out from other marathons I have done (I have six under my belt as of April 2019).
So, I am doing it again!
This will actually be the first marathon I have repeated and I am more excited for this race than any other, because THREE of my best friends will be in the race: Dan, Eric Rosen, and Mike Zaic! I've known all of these guys since we were 14 years-old. Eric and I grew up around the corner from one another, so we've actually known each other even longer.
In 2017, I exceeded my fundraising goal of $600. I actually raised $1,130!!!! I always strive to be the best version of myself so this year I am hoping to raise over $1,300 for Fisher House. 100% of your donation goes to Fisher House, and you can donate with confidence: Fisher House has received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator 15 years in a row and an A+ rating from CharityWatch/American Institute of Philanthropy.
